Los Angeles Dental Implants Cost

There are two parts to dental implants cost because there are two very distinct procedures that are performed. As you can see in the diagram at the right, there is a root form placed in the bone. This needs to be allowed to heal before any stress can be placed on it, much as a broken bone needs to be immobilized for it to heal.

Only after it has healed is it safe to restore the rest of the tooth.

As far as the cost is concerned, the surgical placement of the dental implant is a separate fee from the restorative procedure.

Los Angeles dental implants cost is divided in two parts

It is difficult to put a dollar amount on the cost of the surgery on a website because there are so many variables. Sometimes it's a simple matter of placing the root form in the bone and allowing it to heal. Sometimes there is bone grafting that has to be done, or procedures such as a sinus lift, or there are other complications. If there is more than one dental implant, the cost for each additional one is going to be considerably less because once you're already in the chair and the surgical field is prepared, the amount of additional work for an additional implant is less than it was for the first one.

The cost of placing a crown on the implant can also involve different options. There is an abutment that is created. The abutment is the connector between the crown and the root form. It is the least expensive if a stock abutment can be used. But sometimes, because of the angulation of the case or the space available, there needs to be a custom abutment made, which costs more.

Los Angeles Dental Implants Costs in Different Parts of the Metropolitan Area

Dr. Thein believes in trying to make his fees as affordable as possible, and tries to set them at a reasonable level. We are probably typical for practices in our part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Having said this, we also want to emphasize the importance of not looking for the absolute lowest fee. Implant dentistry is a demanding discipline, and there are many opportunities for dentists to cut corners. For example, the precision fixtures we actually implant into the bone cost us several hundred dollars apiece. If dentists want to save money, they can buy cheap imitation fixtures for $3 to $5 apiece. And as a patient, you won't know the difference until several years later when they become loose or infected. So our advice is to be prepared to pay for quality dental care. We don't use generic fixtures, nor do we use any shortcuts. We provide long-lasting value. You will find us affordable, though we are unable to offer the cheapest fees, because of our standards.
